remote Learning information & RESOURCES
With the arrival of the pandemic, schools rapidly developed ways of teaching remotely. At Byron Court, we used a range of websites to achieve this. We currently use Showbie, as our platform to share learning, however we are currently working in school, to develop replace this with Microsoft Teams.
Over the last year, our team has been migrating all our planning and digital resources to a cloud based server. The school is using TEAMS to access and organise our in school communications.
EYFS parents have been introduced to TAPESTRY, a platform where teachers can record and share with parents their child's development, across the year. Parents are also adding to this, with pictures and evidence of their child's activities and progress at home. Teachers are uploading information about the curriculum each week as well as sharing home learning activities. This is developing a good record for the year. In the summer, we plan to provide the end of year report her too.
We are working towards developing a similar approach for the rest of the school. The rate of progress in this has been slower than we would have liked due to significant staff absence and unforeseen technology issues (part shortages due to COVID). We have set up online profiles for all children in the TEAMS, which we will share with parents as each class is migrated to the system. We plan to roll this out in September, for the whole school. Using ONE NOTE, teachers will be able to share with parents, the learning in class, set , mark and integrate home learning in to the day to day lessons. This will work in a similar way to TAPESTRY in EYFS.
To begin with, year 2 and year 5 will be trailing this in the summer term. We are investing in updated computers to support this. As we progress, we plan to support parents to understand and use the system.
